Flos Seki-Han Suspension Light

The Flos Seki-Han Suspension Light, designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1963 and reissued in 2025, is a masterful display of craftsmanship and light engineering. Suspended from a 2.5-metre power cable, the lamp features two heat-treated ash wood blades that rotate around a central tubular light source, joined by polished aluminium fittings.

This elegant movement allows both symmetrical and asymmetrical light distribution, creating a dynamic balance between direct and indirect illumination. The contrast between the natural grain of the wood and the refined metal accents showcases Scarpa’s deep understanding of material harmony and proportion.

Each component of the Seki-Han is precisely machined and finished with zapon-varnished aluminium terminals and a matching canopy. The lamp comes equipped with a dimmable T8 LED tube, providing customisable light control for any environment. Drawing inspiration from naval construction techniques, Scarpa’s design transforms the interaction between wood and light into a poetic statement.
