Finn Juhl Willadsen Chair

The Willadsen Chair by Finn Juhl is a refined example of his sculptural approach to furniture, originally created in 1950 during his collaboration with cabinetmaker Søren Willadsen. Now part of the Willadsen Series, the chair features Juhl’s signature semi-oval gap between the seat and backrest, a daring structural move that gives the back a floating appearance. This expressive detail remains one of Juhl’s most memorable contributions to modern design, combining visual lightness with architectural precision.

The soft, curved silhouette of the chair gently wraps around the body, creating a comfortable and welcoming seat. Its slightly tilted legs, crafted from solid FSC® certified wood, enhance both the form and function of the piece. Every chair is hand-upholstered in Denmark, showcasing a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. The Willadsen Chair shown here is made in American walnut and upholstered in Hallingdal by Kvadrat, with colour ‘180’ on the backrest and ‘130’ on the seat.
